Michigan State Police

Helping the Michigan State Police protect, serve — and raise awareness.

Many Michiganders’ knowledge of the Michigan State Police (MSP) is limited to the occasional glimpse of a blue SUV on the freeway. But the breadth of programs and services they provide to protect and serve Michigan’s citizens is truly amazing. For years, Brogan & Partners has been a proud partner to the MSP, helping raise awareness of these programs, recruit new State Troopers, and sometimes, enlist the help of ordinary citizens in protecting their neighbors from crime.

Helping citizens recognize the clues leading up to a targeted act of violence.

The scenario has become all too familiar: a troubled individual with a weapon terrorizes a school, a workplace, a place of worship or an entertainment venue. The MSP’s goal is to make it easier to spot and report the warning signs of these attacks, so these tragic events can be prevented.

While each attacker has their own motivation, there is a pattern of behavior we can all look out for — and a hotline we can call to anonymously report the signs that concern us. Brogan created the “Stop a Plot” campaign, including a video, social media posts, flyer, palm card, and landing page, that shows how and when to speak up. Because law enforcement would much rather investigate suspicions than shootings.

This campaign delivered:

6.3+

Impressions,

meaning over 6 million people saw our ads

2.3+

Million Video Views

and over 1.78 million video completions

38,778

Visits to the web page

Recruiting diversity to reflect the communities they serve.

To foster trust and engagement, MSP  wanted to add more diversity to their workforce. However, they were not getting as many applications as they wanted from women and minorities. Brogan created a campaign targeted to these audiences, raising awareness of how rewarding a career as a State Trooper can
be — financially, personally, and through the opportunity to make a difference.

Increasing awareness of the signs of human trafficking…

In 2018, Michigan had the seventh-highest rate of human trafficking in the United States, a crime that has become a worldwide epidemic. With a crime this widespread, MSP needed as many watchful eyes on the lookout as possible. So Brogan created a video that pointed out telltale signs of human trafficking that can be easily overlooked, but easily detected if one knows what to look for. Aimed at service and utility employees who regularly work in and around people’s homes, the video went viral, getting thousands of shares on social media and coverage on local news programs.

While there is still much work to be done, today Michigan has dropped to the #12 state for human trafficking.

Educating on the signs of children endangered by substance misuse.

When a parent or caregiver suffers from substance use disorder, the children in their care are at greater risk for abuse and neglect. But identifying these at-risk children requires cooperation from those in a position to see the signs: teachers, local law enforcement, doctors, counselors, and others. To encourage their cooperation and participation with the Michigan Drug-Endangered Children Alliance, Brogan created these two videos, as well as digital display ads and social posts.
