Two Brogan & Partners' projects win Telly Awards.

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – May 14, 2012 – The Telly Awards, the premier award honoring local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, video and film production and online commercials, has named Brogan & Partners a multiple winner of its 33rd annual awards. Brogan & Partners is honored to have its projects selected among nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries. The announcement was made by Brogan Managing Partner, Ellyn Davidson.

Two Brogan & Partners projects – “STEM Interview” on behalf of the National Defense Education Partnership and “Secondhand Rose, Secondhand Smoke” on behalf of the Michigan Department of Community Health – were honored, the latter in two separate categories. “STEM Interview” received a Silver Telly, the Awards highest honor, in the not-for-profit category. “Secondhand Rose, Secondhand Smoke” was awarded both a Silver Telly in the public service category and a Bronze Telly in the not-for-profit category.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, executive director of the Telly Awards. “Brogan & Partners’ accomplishments illustrate their creativity, skill and dedication to their craft, and serve as a testament to great film and video production.”

“These honors we share with our clients, the National Defense Education Partnership and the Michigan Department of Community Health,” said Davidson. “Great clients make it possible to produce great creative work, and our amazing production partners, Radish Creative Group and Cutters, helped bring these award-winning ideas to life.”

About The Telly Awards

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world.

A prestigious judging panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, the Award’s highest honor.  Approximately 25 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Bronze Telly. Breast cancer survivor to discuss controversial new mammogram screening guidelines.

Ellyn Davidson addresses confusion and dangers of guidelines at Skyline Club event

[Birmingham, MI] - Ellyn Davidson, a partner at Brogan & Partners Convergence Marketing and breast cancer survivor is not happy about the sweeping changes in the newly proposed mammogram screening guidelines, and will discuss the controversy at the Greater Detroit Area Health Council's Coffee & Controversy event starting at 7:30 a.m. on January 12, 2010 at the Skyline Club in Southfield.

The new guidelines are proposed by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force, which is a group of health experts convened by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. According to the new guidelines, routine screening of average-risk women should begin at 50, instead of the current age of 40, and end at age 74; women should get screening mammograms every two years instead of each year; and breast self-exams have little value, based on results from several large studies. The American Cancer Society disagrees with the proposed new recommendations, and continues to stand behind the current guidelines of screenings every year starting at age 40.

"We've spent 25 years educating women on the importance of early breast cancer detection, self breast exams and routine mammograms beginning at age 40," said Davidson. "As a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer at age 36, if I'd followed these guidelines I might not be here to talk to you today."

Other speakers at the event will include Sharon Helmer, M.D., Clinical Service Chief of the Karmanos Cancer Center Imaging Department and Medical Director of Karmanos Breast Imaging, and Zeina Nahleh, M.D., Leader of the Breast Multidisciplinary Team at the Karmanos Cancer Center. The event is $35 or GDAHC Members, and $50 for non-members, and is sponsored by the Karmanos Cancer Center. To register, visit www.gdahc.org.
