When it comes to life, Matt is pretty laid back. He likes to enjoy nature, his family and his home state. (He's a North Carolina boy through and through.) But don’t let his easygoing demeanor fool you—Matt has a passion for what he does. Even as a kid, he wanted to be an artist, and as the Environmental Health Perspectives journal's senior news designer, he turns science into art on a daily basis.
Matt has worked on EHP since 2002, and today, he spearheads the layout and art direction of the EHP News section. He oversees the acquisition of photography and graphics to illustrate and communicate complex information. And if he can't find exactly the right image, he'll often create it himself. It's this kind of commitment to the finest quality product that has won him awards from both the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the National Institutes of Health.
When he's not kicking &*!$( for EHP, Matt’s kicking back with family and friends.
